Two Greenleaf Publishing titles have been honoured by the Academy of Management in its Best Book Awards at the 75th Annual Meeting.

Corporate Responsibility Coalitions: The Past, Present, and Future of Alliances for Sustainable Capitalism by David Grayson and Jane Nelson was named the winner of the Social Issues in Management (SIM) Best Book Award. The SIM division studies the social issues, institutions, interactions, and impacts of management.

Corporate Responsibility Coalitions is the first book to chronicle the progress and potential of business-led corporate responsibility coalitions, and has been described by John Ruggie, Berthold Beitz Professor in Human Rights and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, as “an indispensable guide to the role played by business-led coalitions in generating and disseminating socially responsible business practices … written by two seminal figures in the field”.

David Grayson is Director of the Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility at Cranfield University and Jane Nelson is Director of Harvard Kennedy School’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative at Harvard University.

Competing for a Sustainable World: Building Capacity for Sustainable Innovation by Sanjay Sharma, Dean and Professor of the School of Business Administration at the University of Vermont, was also honoured as the finalist in the Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE) division, which is dedicated to the advancement of research, teaching, and service in the area of relationships between organizations and the natural environment. Stuart L. Hart, Steven Grossman Endowed Chair in Sustainable Business at the University of Vermont and editor of Base of the Pyramid 3.0, has said that Sharma’s book “could not come at a more important time . . . It summarizes a lifetime of experience and perspective that others in this emerging field will find very useful and important.”
