Greenleaf Publishing, the leading specialist publisher in sustainability and responsible business, today announced that it has acquired the Dō Sustainability portfolio of books.
Dō Sustainability published 50 titles between late 2012 and 2015. The distinctive book series, branded as Dō Shorts, set out to be concise, professionally focused titles that “address one sustainability challenge at a time, and can be read in 90 minutes”. The Dō Shorts portfolio titles include a guide to the circular economy, the use of digital media in brand-building, integrated reporting, and how-to guides on producing a sustainability report, measuring a building’s energy use, and valuing natural and social capital.
Dō Sustainability’s titles have been available individually, in print and as downloadable eBooks, and also as partner publications in Greenleaf’s online collection, the Sustainable Organization Library (SOL). Greenleaf will be making the titles available via their international book distributors, and as an online collection.
John Peters, Managing Director of Greenleaf Publishing, said: “We are delighted to have been able to work with our friends at Dō Sustainability on a transition of these wonderful titles into Greenleaf. We will be working with the existing authors from Dō Sustainability and new authors, to publish more of these highly applied professional titles within Greenleaf. This consolidates Greenleaf’s position as the world’s leading specialist publisher in sustainability and responsible management.”
Dr Nick Bellorini, Publishing Director of Dō Sustainability , commented: “The sale of the list to Greenleaf represents a very good fit for the series. Greenleaf are a very well established, independent publisher of books and journals on sustainability and business. Their experience in the sustainability space, and their track record in both selling books and collections of book and journal content augur well for the visibility, sales and future development of the series. There is also continuity here, as Greenleaf have been actively selling the Dō Shorts collection as part of their Sustainable Organization Library (SOL). They are a dynamic and independent publisher with kindred values to our own. All in all, I think this is a very good home for the series and for our authors.”
The field of socially responsible and sustainable business is one of the most important and fast-growing in the world. Through Greenleaf’s connections with Business in the Community, a Prince of Wales charity with a remit to support business success through ethical behaviour, the Dō Sustainability titles will now be made available to more than 800 UK-based BITC members via their advisory network.
Greenleaf also works very closely with the United Nations Global Compact and Principles for Responsible Management Education, PRME. The Global Compact has around 12,000 company, government and NGO signatories worldwide, and the PRME has more than 600 leading business schools signatories worldwide, committed to responsibility as part of a management education curriculum. Greenleaf supports the work of the PRME as a publishing partner, and the Dō Shorts titles will become part of the offer to PRME members worldwide.
